Everyone recognizes the need for responsible taxation to defend our country, to build roads and schools, and to police and govern our communities.
Excessive taxation, however, not only reduces economic growth, but politicians gain greater control over our lives as the amount of our money they manage increases. The people are asked to sacrifice their income in the name of the public good while government increases spending.
Proposed taxes to prevent Global Warning (Cap and Trade tax) and to fight obesity (soft drink tax) demonstrate Government’s desire to constantly harvest new revenue and to protect us from ourselves. The proposed VAT (national sales tax) threatens to drastically raise the cost of living.
Eliminating wasteful spending and accounting for entitlement programs is essential for a secure financial future. Reducing corporate income tax rates and the capital gains tax will encourage economic growth and create jobs.
Financial success is not a crime; it creates jobs and a higher standard of living for everyone. Every citizen desires success. It must be encouraged, not inhibited.
